Quarter Sessions Calendars

In 1931, the Standing Joint Committee of the Buckinghamshire Quarter Sessions and the County Council ordered the publication of calendars of the records of the Quarter Sessions. Eight volumes of calendared quarter sessions records were published in all, covering the period 1678-1733. The Original Volumes available on this page faithfully reproduce the material of the printed volumes, including their introductions and indexes.

Because the later volumes include materials that should chronologically have been in their predecessors, anyone trying to follow a person, or event, chronologically through the material may have to search two or even three volumes. These Chronological Volumes provide a chronological sequence of the printed Quarter Sessions material from 1647 through to 1733, bringing together material from the relevant volume, but without indexing. Points in the text where the originating volume changes are indicated.
