Volume 20. The Letters of Thomas Hayton, Vicar of Long Crendon, 1821-1887

edited with an introduction by Joyce Donald 185+xx pp (1979)

These letters - most of them taken from official archives - record his struggles to improve the life of the parish and above all the harsh condition of poor relief. The causes were good but his aggressive attitude alienated his correspondents.
